PSA Allied Health Industrial Action – 9-20 May

New Zealand’s 20 District Health Boards are in bargaining discussions with the Public Service Association (PSA) to renew the national collective agreement for our Allied, Public Health and Technical staff.

While positive progress was made in bringing the parties’ positions closer together, a settlement of the dispute has not been achieved. PSA members have since voted to take the following industrial action and issued strike notices:

  • Work to rule from Monday 9 May to Sunday 15 May
  • Full withdrawal of labour from 11.59pm on Sunday 15 May to 11.59pm on Monday 16 May
  • Work to rule from Tuesday 17 May to Friday 20 May

Work to rule means our PSA Allied, Public Health and Technical staff will strictly observe their agreed start and finish times, take all entitled breaks and only work overtime for which they are paid.

Patient safety remains our priority. If you are a patient, please come to your scheduled appointment unless we have contacted you directly to say your appointment is being rescheduled.

Our Allied, Public Health and Technical staff are a highly valued part of our workforce, committed to caring for our patients. We respect their right to take industrial action and know the decision to strike is a very difficult one.
